And cookingbymum is my little corner of the internet!
I launched cookingbymum in 2016 while I was still a full‑time elementary school teacher in Portland, Oregon. I had been feeding my two twins breakfast every morning for years, and one rainy Tuesday I decided to write down the pancake recipe that had become our family ritual. The post got a handful of comments from fellow parents, and before I knew it I was sharing a new recipe almost every week.
Fast‑forward to today: the site now attracts about 130,000 unique visitors each month, and our newsletter has 28,000 subscribers who receive my “Midweek Meal‑Boost” every Thursday. In 2022 cookingbymum won the “Best Family Food Blog” award from the Foodie Bloggers Association, and we’ve added video tutorials, a searchable recipe index, and a seasonal produce guide that I update every spring. I’m still the one typing out each post, but I now have a small team of contributors who help with photography and testing.
I live in Asheville, North Carolina, with my husband Mark and our energetic kids, Lily (9) and Noah (7). When I’m not in the kitchen, you’ll find me hiking the Blue Ridge Mountains, tending to my herb garden, or perfecting my Sunday‑morning cinnamon rolls. Those simple pleasures keep my pantry stocked and my ideas fresh.
A fun fact? The most requested recipe on the site is my “One‑Pot Chicken & Veggie Bake,” which I first made for a potluck in 2018. It’s amazing how a single dish can bring so many families together.
